Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Thailand (Chair)

Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert is a general practitioner, public health specialist, administrator and policy advisor and advocator. He has extensive experience in the areas of human resources for health; health economics and health care financing; international trade and health; health promotion; health information; disease surveillance and control and pharmaceuticals. He has published more than 100 papers, reports and books locally and internationally.
During the past ten years, Dr. Suwit has been representing Thailand in many international health forums including the World Health Assembly. He has served as the Vice Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, Chair the Board of the Health Metrics Network and the Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance Network, Chair of the Program Coordinating Board, UNAIDS, and the President of the Intergovernmental Forum on Chemical Safety.
At present, he chairs the Steering Committee of the Asia-Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health, the Asian Partnership on Avian Influenza Research and the Program and Policy Committee of the Board of the Global Health Workforce Alliance.
Dr. Suwit served as Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Public Health in 2000-2003 and a Senior Advisor in Health Economics in 2003-2006. Currently, he serves at the highest rank of government official (PC11) as a Senior Advisor on Disease Control. He is also responsible for health policy and international health work of the ministry.
